Ah yes, the feeling of having fresh insight of sorts when returning. It may seem cliché to say there’s nothing quite like it, but I can’t help but say it. I’ve thought about my previous posts, my ideas on where I’d like to go from here, and have brainstormed other projects in the works, so there’s been quite a lot of mental gymnastics. I’m happy to say that I now have a better direction for the blog and can keep things relatively simple. Yes, I have returned. My absence was not intentional, as I’ve been getting a little absorbed in my current shenanigans. It’s mostly studies that have been keeping me busy, particularly music.
I never was much of a musician when I was a kid. I had taken a band class in the fifth grade and learned simple clarinet stuff, but I never practiced composing anything. I wish I had experimented more, but at the time I was always more into drawing comics. And no, I was never that great at drawing. Despite my love for drawing, it took forever before I finally started learning something. Actually I take it back, I did learn one thing back then. That thing I learned, of course, was my realization that my drawing skills were just like the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and Corin Nemec’s presence in Hollywood.
Lately, though, it’s coming back to me. I’m finally starting to wrap my head around being able to construct my drawings, so all my practice is paying off. And as for the music, even that’s coming along nicely. I’ve yet to compose anything, but thanks to the wonderful videos from artofcomposing.com and other videos from youtube, I feel like things are falling into place and I can start experimenting. In short, the things I’m learning finally feel like they’re getting somewhere. Practicing it, of course, is a whole other beast.
On top of that, there is video stuff coming along too. Going into that, however, is a topic for another time as that can get lengthier than Corin Nemec’s absence from Hollywood. But anyways, I felt it was time to finally talk about these studies. I don’t know why, but for some reason I didn’t wanna do any progress updates like this. Seeing as how I am a bit of an aspiring web video kinda’ guy, I figured I may as well touch on my time spent learning this stuff. The plan is to make music for whatever videos I do, and also draw stuff for said videos. There are still other areas I need to work on as well, but that too is something I’ll have to talk about in another entry.
This is very different from what I’d usually write about, but I felt it was time to discuss why I’ve been busy and, since I hadn’t updated this for a while, I figured, “Screw it, may as well talk about what’s keeping me busy.” I do plan on getting back to my usual shtick though, so more posts in vein of my earlier entries are on the horizon.
So until next time, always ALWAYS keep your eye on the donut, not the hole. Later taters all o/
