Well… 2014 was definitely an interesting year for me. I created this blog towards the end of May, and being consistent has been a little tricky ever since. Not just in terms of trying to get a decent amount of posts every week, but also in terms of the posts themselves. I’ve always liked writing, I like going into my thoughts and anything that comes to mind, and I like all things entertainment, so it seemed like a no-brainer to combine all that and see where it goes. So I did just that and had a lot of fun.

Eventually, I started to think about my sensibilities, how I want to present myself in writing, ideas behind it, and that head-space I have when writing. So I tried other types of posts, veered away from spontaneity, utilized it only here and there, and ultimately, I started to do posts with a little more of a focus, perfect examples being my mini-review of Stickin’ Around and the entries on comedy writing.

As you can tell, there was quite a standstill and things got quiet here. After doing those posts on comedy writing, I wasn’t entirely sure what to do. I thought about changing the focus here once again, and creating a new/separate blog for the free-form stuff I used to do. As if that weren’t enough, the holidays and home life did keep me busy.Ā  Any time I’d try writing a post, I’d end up scrapping it. Nothing felt natural. I kept trying to come up with something and it’d feel very forced, so any attempts at writing a new post would only result in me tossing out whatever ideas I had. I needed a break, and that turned out to feel like a tortuous vacation (eh that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it did feel crazy).

After thinking about everything for a good chunk of the holiday break, I realized that I should stop over thinking it and just write anything, even if it seems odd or silly. My early blog entries were a result of that, so it’s only right that I go back to my roots. I had fun with the non-free-roaming posts since they added a little variety, and I’ll very likely do more in the event that I have an idea, but in the end I am a very free-roaming kind of person. Best thing to do here is just write whatever I’m in the mood for and see where that goes.

It is worth noting that the blog is still in its infancy, so who knows where it’ll go. One thing for sure is that the intention hasn’t changed, I still plan on making entertainment the focus. Whether it’s content that I enjoy and want to talk about; or content that I plan on creating, that will always be the center. As I stated in my ā€œExpansionā€ post, my goal is to create stuff and link to it in blog posts, pretty much inspired by Cinemassacre. With the new year in motion, I hope to finally make some big changes and start creating stuff.

Before I wrap this up, I’d like to take a moment to thank those who have been following the blog. I’m never too sure what makes someone enjoy my little rambles, but it’s always been a nice treat when I’d go to sleep after writing something, and then wake up to look at any notifications. I’m not in this for fame or anything like that, but it is nice knowing that others enjoy what I do. Thank you everybody for making 2014 a fun year for me, I hope you’ll enjoy what I have in store šŸ™‚
