Well this sort of snuck up on me, what with all the Star Wars posts and all. But it’s definitely something I want to go into, so it’s time to look back and have some fun! Throughout this post, I’ll throw in random party music, so… yeah. ¯\_(ヅ)_/¯
It’s been four years since I launched this blog, and while there were a couple absences, I’d say it’s mostly been good since I took that time to explore myself. As a result, I’ve discovered more about me and found enough wisdom so I could come back and keep this going, even changing some mindsets. Now let’s dive in and get this party started!
The question that first comes to mind is, “How much has changed?” Well in terms of the blog, it got a redesign. Little drop-down menus and organized categories is something I wanted from the very beginning and I’m glad I have those implemented now. There are a few other elements I hope to add, but right now I’m really happy with how it looks.
For me, though, what’s changed the most are my sensibilities in writing and content creation. Setting time aside for this and improving habits was (and in some ways, still is) a little crazy, but taking care of life stuff has helped make it possible. Not only that, I’ve been enjoying the process of mapping out concepts.
While I do still want to dive into video & filmmaking, it’ll be a while before I can fully commit to that. Focusing on blogging first will allow me to focus on productivity habits in general before I add video production into the mix. Plus, spending time on written posts has given me the idea that I can pull from that material for videos. There are a lot of topics I’ve been brainstorming, so it’ll be cool seeing how everything will go.
Outside of blogging, another thing I liked was streaming on Twitch. It does take a lot of energy out of me, but I feel that I still got it as an entertainer. It’s certainly nice knowing that others liked the streams. When I really think about it, though, I’d rather put that energy towards other creative goals. If anything, streams will be minimal so that I don’t reach burnout.
Twitch is a cool platform and I’m always happy to support other livestreamers, so I do really like being active on it. And who knows, if they ever add categories that tap into a filmmaking community, I’d definitely consider doing something on there.
In the social media side, I’ve been coming up with little things to write on Facebook as well as live-tweeting. It’s a nice reminder that there should be room for activities like that, so it’ll be neat seeing how I can fit live-tweeting into the schedule. And, of course, ideas lead to ideas which lead to ideas, so knowing that live-tweets can somehow become or lead to other projects is exciting and I’m stoked at the possibilities.
Meanwhile, there’s a lot I want to learn so I can keep moving forward. Studying is something I love doing, and although I’ve been doing video courses as well as reading books, I’ve been considering the possibility of going to college. With other things, though, such as work and content creation, it’d be a real test to see how well I can manage my time. I’d hate to drop some of my interests in order to pursue another thing, so it might be a while before I make a decision. It’s inevitable that I’ll go, it’s just a matter of when.
And in terms of more personal stuff outside of this, I’ve been having a lot of thoughts running through my head. Many of them are based on experiences with friends who want to see me grow. Other thoughts are based on feelings I’ve had when I’m actively pursuing something. These experiences and feelings have been transformative and have opened my eyes up to what I want to do, where I want to be, who I am, and much more. I know that if I really want to reach my goals, I need to enter new territory and prepare for big changes.
In each of the four years since I’ve launched this blog, I’ve been discovering a lot about myself. And while there are areas I’m not ready to write about just yet, I know that everything I’ve felt has happened for a reason. I’m very thankful for what I’ve been learning over the last four years and I’m looking forward to what my future holds.
And yeah it is kind of strange that this is only the second celebratory thing I’ve written. That’s largely due to the almost two-year absence. Since I’m blogging more consistently, these anniversaries will be more consistent.
Thank you for sticking around! It’s been hectic and insightful, but there’s plenty more to come. And remember… you can dance if you want to. You can leave your friends behind. Because your friends don’t dance, and if they don’t dance, then they’re no friends of mine.
