Well it’s the end of Star Wars Month, but there will definitely be another one next year! I’d like to thank everyone for hanging out and reading the blog posts. Like many other fans, I grew up on the films and have a lot of fond memories of the series, so it’s been great sharing them and exploring that galaxy far far away.

So how could I give Star Wars month a proper send-off? Well, it’d probably seem silly to reminisce about the blog entries since they were so recent, but it actually makes sense to do that, so what the hey. Let’s do this!

I’ve enjoyed doing all the Star Wars posts, but the ones I had the most fun with are easily My Step Into a Larger World and My Favourite Parodies & References. I’d say the reason is definitely because those were based on my childhood memories, so thinking of the toys I had and the stuff I loved watching was really cool. I enjoyed looking for clips of everything on Youtube as well. Integrating videos into blog posts is something I like doing and serves as a nice way to break up paragraphs of text.

Random gifs from the Star Wars Holiday Special work too.

Then I had a great time writing My Thoughts on Han Solo since I got to talk about one of my favourite characters and, at the same time, include a review of the Solo movie. It was unique for me since I never wrote a character study, but I liked doing it. I may have to consider doing more posts like that, but based on other fictional characters as well. Making the little featured image inspired by the Solo title was fun too. Thinking about it makes me want to create more graphics for blog entries.

And then there’s My Thoughts on Return of the Jedi. The nature of it reminded me a lot of what I did with the Tales From the Media Shelf series, and I liked being analytical but also appreciative, as I do like the movie. In fact, after live-tweeting Return of the Jedi, I started to wonder if I seemed a little harsh towards the film in the blog post. After looking at it again, though, I think I was analytical enough without being harsh. Plus, others seem to enjoy the entry, and I’m happy for that.

Live tweeting the original trilogy was another one of my favourite things! I’ll definitely want to do that for the other films next year. A couple people I follow on Twitter shared their thoughts when I was doing this for Return of the Jedi, and that was cool ’cause it felt like they were watching the movie with me. Plus, I loved the energy and excitement from watching the films and doing the live tweets, sharing my reactions and whatnot. Also, this was a nice learning experience when I decided to pre-plan possible thoughts just enough while still maintaining that spontaneous nature.  It’s not something one should overthink, and yet having a good idea of what I wanted to talk about did help a lot.

And in addition to live-tweeting the original trilogy and writing these blog pieces, I also liked sharing Star Wars-related stuff on Facebook. I feel like I should’ve done that a lot more, but I’ll definitely hunt around for things and find more to share next year, so I’m looking forward to that. I could even make this more interactive and ask anyone to send their favourite Star Wars-related Youtube videos, fan-art, music, etc.

In the end, I wanted to do all this as a way of sharing my love for the series. I always like talking with other Star Wars fans, so my love for the franchise is not going away anytime soon. When I was a little kid first getting into the films, I never imagined that I would create written pieces that other people would read online. I don’t even think I kept a journal at that time, so this has been a neat experience.

It’s a little sad to see the month come to an end, but there will always be another May 4th.  We’ll dive into these adventures again next year, but until then… may the force be with you!
