Ever since I was a kid, I always loved learning many things. I would say I’m not sure why nor what it is, but I totally know what it is. Basically, I just couldn’t make up my friggin’ mind when choosing what I want to dedicate my time to. Well okay, another reason is the movie Phenomenon. Ever see that flick? John Travolta plays a normal guy who sees a light and then finds himself reading a lot, learning all sorts of neat stuff and finds himself getting into more than he expects. That always made me want to pursue reading about many things to study.
That’s not the only thing though. A major part of me wanting to learn random stuff has always been the whole “Monkey see, monkey do” approach to things. For instance, I started writing stories after I saw one of my brothers write & illustrate a little book for school. I’d also see a lot of making-of featurettes on video tapes, so that always made me want to get into filmmaking. And in a whole other thing, I once met a friend who’d randomly do various accents and impressions for no reason at all, so I found myself doing the very same thing.
And yes, I still do that.
This pattern still exists today, as I often find myself wanting to learn other things I never thought of. Many of those things, like marketing and entrepreneurship definitely go hand-in-hand with my lifelong goal of wanting to produce content. And with a lot of entrepreneurs on Youtube learning many skills that go into that sorta’ work, it’s nice knowing that there are others out there who dabble in a bit of everything and learn many skills.
But still, there’s the question of, “Where does this thirst for knowledge really come from?” Well… why does anyone learn anything? I’m not the only one who always wants to collect endless amounts of information like a hyper energetic version of Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.

Yeah, I had to find a place to use this.
Anyway, growth and accomplishment are definitely other key reasons for me wanting to learn all sorts of things. Without some kind of growth and a feeling of accomplishment, you’re just stuck in one thing and you’re likely going to feel very limited, maybe even bored after a while. Even if someone doesn’t have a desire to learn a wide assortment of things, I’m sure they’d like to have at least one or two things on the side to explore. Hobbies, of course, are perfect for this.
For me though? I feel like I have a hard time just labeling my interests as a hobby. Sure, I’m not a professional yet, but knowledge builds upon knowledge, and that leads to experience, and the experience can lead to a larger world. From there, it can take on a life of its own and become not just a hobby, but a passion. It could even become a career if someone really loves it that much and plays their cards right.
So that’s another reason why I’ve always wanted to learn many things. It’s something I just love doing. I mean, you gotta have passion for whatever it is that grabs your interest! Without passion, why would you do something? Why would you put in lots of time and even money towards something if you’re not having fun and enjoying it?

Okay okay, last Johnny 5 gif.
One thing I’m enjoying a lot lately is learning how to grow stuff on here, how to explore potential ideas, and little things on content marketing and branding. I still have a little more to go before I can really take things to the next level, but it’s a lot of fun and is something I never thought I’d explore. But it makes sense for me to learn about marketing, it definitely fits with my other goals.
With all this said, I find it kinda’ funny that nothing has really changed over the years. I still feel like that curious kid who would draw and write a lot, dreaming of creating things for others to see. And while it’s hard not to stop dreaming, it’s fun knowing that there’s still a lot out there and I can continue to find new things to explore.
So whether you want to write, draw, create a podcast, knit or do other crafty things, remember to never stop. You never know where your passion may take you, so always keep doing your thing and make sure you have fun. Because if you don’t… you will be disassembled.

Okay I lied, this is the last one… for now.
See ya next week!
